Oakhurst Elementary School

Oakhurst Elementary School, originally built in 1927, serves pre-K through 5th grade kids in the Riverside area of Fort Worth. The school was enlarged in 1935, 1953 and 1999 and continues to grow with a current enrollment of about 600 students.

The teachers’ lounge was in desperate need of a refresh, and the school’s Principal asked for some help to show her appreciation to her staff. After a site visit to evaluate the existing teachers’ lounge, Quorum designers suggested that the lounge be moved to a more practical location within the school and provided a schematic design for the new site. Quorum and Steer FW provided the labor to paint the rooms and assemble new furnishings over two weekends in August. Hard costs were covered by a grant from the Rainwater Charitable Foundation.
