Doug and four of his buddies founded Quorum Architects in 1992. It was important to him that the firm have a name suited for perpetuity, so Doug had the idea to name it Quorum – a reference to the minimum number of people that define a voting body. His devotion to building the firm was never more evident than when he sold his truck to finance the firm’s first computer.

A believer in “People First” design, Doug listened to his clients’ ideas, thoughts, and visions, to bring their projects to life. This approach has yielded many thoughtful and remarkable buildings and spaces for corporate, healthcare, senior living and industrial clients. He applied the “People First” philosophy to employees as well – creating an environment where people feel appreciated and engaged.

After retiring from Quorum, Doug embarked on a new life journey with the love of his life – building a beautiful lake house. When not visiting with his grandchild and traveling the country visiting friends, Doug enjoys outdoor activities like cycling, camping, and watching the World Champion Rangers.

I wanted a beautiful structure that didn’t look like ‘just another dental office.’ Quorum listened and designed a building that far surpassed anything I expected.
