Carrollton Animal Shelter & Adoption Center
Carrollton, TX
One of our earlier animal care projects is the Carrollton Animal Shelter and Adoption Facility. As a gateway to the McInnish Sports Complex Park in Carrollton, the city wanted a project that would complement some of the existing elements in the park. Quorum decided to use a matching stone veneer, which, when combined with the large glass storefront, not only defines the entrance but catches the attention of citizens as they drive down Sandy Lake Blvd. At night, the stone is highlighted with a soft warm light.
Inside, we continued to break away from the old traditional shelter image by creating a conditioned, quiet, pleasing interior that invites the public and keeps them engaged long enough to fall in love with one of the animals begging to be taken home. We included a large outdoor get-to-know space that allows prospective owners to interact with adoptable dogs in a backyard environment. Although the number of animals housed at the facility increased significantly, we incorporated efficiency in the design that allows the kennel attendants to clean the animal areas in less time than was previously possible.
"It is obvious we made the right decision selecting your firm to design our new shelter. Based on the number of Animal Shelters you have designed we were able to avoid many of the challenges other facilities faced with new construction and we continue to benefit from the efficiency gained through your design. We are complimented daily by our customers and receive regular positive feedback from other animal services agencies about the design and features of our new facility.”
