Grapevine Animal Services Shelter & Adoption Center
Grapevine, TX
The City of Grapevine was in desperate need of a new animal shelter and adoption center to replace the outdated, cramped facility on the same site. The staff had specific ideas about how the new center should look and function. Quorum listened and delivered a modern 13,245 square foot facility design that met all the client’s goals.
Promoting adoptions is always a priority for shelter clients, so a welcoming exterior is key. Large animal graphics helps inform passers-by. Inside, visitors are immediately greeted by views of adoptable animals. Cheerful get-to-know rooms as well as outdoor play yards allow interaction with animals before adopting.
Space planning to avoid cross contamination and the design of an HVAC system that promotes the health and wellbeing of animals and staff are crucial. The building includes a veterinary clinic, enclosed sally port, public education room, and volunteer and event-dedicated spaces. A retail area stocked with pet supplies and branded clothing generates funds to offset the cost of special surgeries and enrichment items for the animals.
